Jackie Burke
Jackie Burke is a registered psychologist with 20 years of experience in counselling and consultancy services. She has worked in remote Australia, regional and metropolitan NSW, and has directed national programs for people affected by sexual, domestic and family violence. She is a published author, awarded researcher, and sought-after speaker and trainer with an adjunct position at Western Sydney University.
Jackie commenced developing and delivering training programs in her role as Education Programs Coordinator at Relationships Australia NT in 1998. Since then she’s developed over 50 professional training programs, including Respect, Relate, Stop Rape a 6 week program delivered to NT schools for Ruby Gaea – Darwin Centre Against Rape in 2001; 2 units on trauma and other stressor related disorders for Western Sydney University post-graduate psychology courses; Understanding Trauma seminar which is delivered as one unit in NSW Police detectives training; and multiple half day to 3 day courses on topics including: domestic and family violence, sexual violence, therapeutic work with traumatized individuals, trauma specialist therapy, trauma specialist clinical supervision, managing vicarious trauma, responding to suicidality and self-harming behaviours and managing trauma exposed workforces.
During her tenure as Clinical Director of Rape and Domestic Violence Services Australia, Jackie developed the training operations of the organization where she developed 35 training programs and mentored a team of trainers delivering programs across Australia to a wide variety of audiences.
Jackie utilizes diverse learning tools in her training programs following the principles of adult education, ensuring that both experiential and applied learning activities are included.
After holding senior management roles for the past 15 years, Jackie established her own private practice and consultancy business in 2017.
When not working, Jackie tries to maintain a regular yoga practice and enjoys a good murder mystery.
